During Sunday's matchup between the Jacksonville Panthers and Houston Texans, linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair took quarterback Trevor Lawrence out of the game with a blackout.
Only...it wasn't exactly direct.
Al-Shaair hit a sliding Lawrence with perhaps of the dirtiest hit you'll find in the NFL this season. It prompted his launch and will likewise possible accompany a fine and a suspension.
The hit ignited various on-field skirmishes and prompted far reaching analysis, including from New York Goliaths legend Michael Strahan, who lit into Al-Shaair during the FOX Sports halftime show.
"I think he hurled himself out of the game," Strahan said, through the New York Post. "I for one figure he did that since he understood assuming he had remained in that game, he wouldn't be safeguarded for that game since what he did - - everyone knows as a cautious player - - you don't do that.
"They're simply getting Trevor Lawrence back. Out two games with a shoulder injury. You prefer not to witness that to him on something just so superfluous in light of the fact that paying little mind to offense and safeguard and how you believe, you really do safeguard your players. You safeguard your folks. We have a great deal of regard for one another out there on the field, in any event, while you're contending. That was inappropriate."
Al-Shaair communicated no regret following the hit, ripping his protective cap off while flexing and taking steps to battle various players and fans.
Lawrence was ultimately trucked to the storage space and determined to have a blackout, his second in under a schedule year. After the game, he left the arena with his better half, Marissa, and posted an uplifting update on X.
